Cynthia (Cindy) Smith

My name is Cindy Smith, I’m a disabled Air Force Veteran. I’m a PCP and served as Alternate Delegate and later Delegate to the Oregon State Central Committee 2016-2018. I am a member of the DPO Standing Rules Committee and a Delegate to CD1.

I am the Communications Officer for the DPO Veterans and Military Families Caucus and am an active member of the Disability Justice Caucus.
I was excited to participate in the Multnomah County Neighborhood Leader Program and to drop slate cards. I knocked on doors and phone banked for Governor Kate Brown and phone banked for Jamie McLeod-Skinner.

I believe that the strength of the Democratic Party is based in grassroots organizing and that the best way to beat Trump is by fighting for our progressive platform – for women’s rights, diversity, health care for all, LGBTQ rights, the environment, worker’s rights and honoring our commitments to veterans, seniors and the children who are our future.

I ask for your vote and support to serve as a delegate to the DPO SCC. Thank you.

I am proud to have served as your Party Chair for the past 2 years. Thrilled with our electoral successes and the dedication and activity of our members, I hope to continue in this role.

I run for re-election committed to ensuring that this Party keep winning and keep promoting and living by the values we profess. As we demand a truly inclusive and just society, so must team Multnomah Democrats be KNOWN as a place that is welcoming to and representative of all county Democrats.

The job of Party Chair is demanding, sometimes tedious, and our many activities require oversight and encouragement. Being Chair requires a thorough knowledge of Party structure and the political framework within which it performs. Continuing to learn daily, I strive to be open and welcoming to every Democrat, endeavoring to consider and share the new ideas of our expanding membership. Whether in the field of campaigns or the work of Party growth, I encourage folks to work together as teams.

I run again to Chair our county Party, knowing that our effectiveness is inexorably tied to how WE live our values as Democrats.

I humbly ask for your vote – as We Rise Together.
